The Seeed Studio Odyssey is a nifty little single-board computer (SBC) from Seeed Studios.
Some of the technical details:
- Intel® Celeron® J4105, Quad-Core 1.5-2.5GHZ Dual-Band Frequency
- 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi Intel® UHD Graphics 600
- Dual Gigabit Ethernet
- Integrated Arduino Coprocessor ATSAMD21 ARM® Cortex®-M0+
- Raspberry Pi 40-Pin Compatible
- 2 x M.2 PCIe (B Key and M Key)
- Support for Windows 10 & Linux OS
The board comes in three flavors:
- The lowest-priced version (at the time of this writing $218) does not include eMCC memory or a Windows 10 installation.
- Next up includes 64GB of eMCC memory with a non-activated version of Windows 10 installed (at this time $238).
- a fully activated version of Windows 10 in the eMCC (at this time $298).
I ordered two which at the time were about $30 less each. Since I have neither a need nor love for Microsoft products, I promptly installed Debian Linux on both, using a relatively inexpensive Silicon Power 1TB – NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 2280 TLC SSD.
The Debian 10 Mate GUI fired right up and worked just fine.
I’m not a gamer, so I can’t speak to the system performance as it pertains to playing games, but there are LOTS of reviews on youtube and other websites that address this issue.
I’ve also set up a LAMP server on both systems and intend to use the boards as staging servers for the websites I maintain.
Overall, I’m pleased with the boards and will update as time goes on.
